make new friends
but keep the old
some are silver
and the others gold
Remember that old nursery rhyme? Our family feels very blessed to have many "golden" friends in our lives, but we were lucky enough this weekend to go on our last float trip of the year with a group of goldies.
I think this may be the first multi-family float that we have gone on where we knew every single family very very well. These are some of our best friends in town and there was really something to be said for the sense of community that was felt in the group. We all watched each others kiddos when the other was busy and we all pitched in and helped out with the extensive amount of work that is involved when you float with little ones. As usual, the trip presented us with some challenges that required a bit of personal and parental growth, but it was great fun.
We floated from Bluff, UT to Mexican Hat with a rich cast of colorful characters:
the best booty shakers around: jordan & edie, mr. owen (callie's bff)
the wild and crazy lokey boys: kai (one of bennett's bffs) and cute kashen
b-nutiest & callie ms. mae
And as with all good floats, there was a theme night ---> Pirate Mania!
Do you know what's a pirate's favorite letter?
"Arrrrr"
You'd think that wouldn't you? But it's actually the "Sea!"
There were pirate cake pops
and a fantastic treasure hunt for some buried booty!
Good Night Sweet San Juan, I hope you're ready for us tomorrow...
Why is it that my kids are always the first ones up?
Ready or not, here we come! Day 2 on the River!
female big horn sheep
my heart is so filled with love for these two rug rats
i'm pretty sure we sang "itsy bitsy spider" about 11 bagillion times
And so after a very very long day on the river, we finally made camp for the second night. The site wasn't exactly what we were hoping for but on the bright side...
there was a big 'ole mud hole to play in the next morning!
and then it was bath time
have i mentioned before that my daughter is obsessed with twirling my hair. obsessed. three days of this people. all night long in the tent. all day long on the boat. it caused headaches and emotional distress.
and that's it, my friends. time to hang up the life jackets until next year...
See you all out on the river next summer! xxxx
