Turkey Day!

We have a long standing tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving with our friend-family rather than our family-family.  It's less stress, it's more drinking.  Let's face it, it's just fun!

This year was sort of an add-on, hodge-podge extravaganza.  Jason, Nicki, Finn and Macie drove down from Laramie to celebrate with us.  Lisa (Jason's sister) and her boys came over.  Then the Schills joined in.  And least we forget our "darling" friends, the Ourys. A Brit, a sorta-Brit and their four children under the age of 7.

Everyone showed up a few hours early and the liquor started to flow.  Needless to say, there was quite a celebration once we started to serve up the meal.

My table scape, people!  Appreciate it.  Except for those damn table cloths that I washed twice and then attempted to iron and they still looked wrinkled.

getting it hooked up, just right
slowly, slowly!!!
how cute are these best buddies?

Brett decided to fry his very first turkey this year.  There was a lot of nervousness and trepidation.  Mostly on my part.  You see, I really like my house and I didn't want it to burn down.  But I should have never doubted him.  With his trusty best friend at his side, all was well.  And apart from being a bit overdone (do to a faulty thermometer, of course), the bird was a success!

sweet sweet girls

Callie was so so happy her "little sister," Macie, was here to help us celebrate.

carver with the mostest

My slightly drunk little ham carver.  Ok, he was really drunk.

love 'em

How beautiful is this crowd?  We had 25 people at our house for the meal.  It was so lovely to be surrounded by some of our favorite folk. There was an abundance of loud laughter, we perfected the art of doing dishes while dancing to ABBA, everyone shared their food and lent a helping hand.  It was excactly what Thanksgiving should be about.   Super thankful for this crazy crew!!
