I needed a break. I really did. I was tired of laundry and making lunches and just the everyday things that everyone does because we have to do it. And I needed to recharge my batteries. So I talked my good friend, Deven, into escaping with me overnight to Pagosa Springs.
We started with a little snowshoeing in what was perhaps the wettest conditions ever. It rained on us the entire time and it wasn't until the end when we were changing that Deven mentioned that neither her rain jacket nor her rain pants were working. And she was soaked. What a trooper!
And then there was a little issue with getting back up the hill from which we had descended to snowshoe. It was a little tricky there for a bit and we were both convinced we would be living in her car with the emergency preparedness kit her loving husband had packed for us. Luckily for us, Deven's mad-Subie driving skills got us up the hill and back out into civilization practically unscathed.
It was a chill night. After snowshoeing we holed ourselves up in a coffee shop and read for a while. Then it was dinner and a movie.
Did you see Les Mes? Don't. It sucked. Hard and bad.
The next morning was a walk around Pagosa, breakfast out and then a day at the spa. We both got massages and then lounged around for a bit in the outdoor rooftop hotsprings and the sauna.
It was short but sweet. And it helped with the battery recharge. At least a little. I'm still holding out for a longer vacation but this was very much needed and very much appreciated!
And while I was recharging... the kidlets were hanging out with Daddy and having a fabulous time. Because I know you were wondering.
Thanks Deven & BZ!
