'Ole!

Time for a vacation!
An adult only vacation!

Our good friends, Dan and Jill, had their 15th wedding anniversary in August and invited a few of us to Mexico to help celebrate.

With Grammie in charge, we drove to Albuquerque with Danny, Jill, Abbi and John Munn and off we went to sunny Bucerias, Mexico.

They tried to get us to rent this van for our stay.
We passed on it.
No, we're not tourists?!  Why would you think something like that?!

We had a three bedroom/two bath house with an amazing backyard courtyard and pool.
And a chef.
Did I mention the chef?  Here name was Ana and she would make whatever you wanted.
And she would clean it up.
It was heaven on earth.

And we were only a half of a block walk from the beach.

We spent our first full day at another beach where the surfing was a bit better.
We rented SUPs, surf boards and boogie boards.
There was cold beer, jalapeno potato chips and these weird little fried peanuts.
It was heaven.

There may have been a little drinking.
Here and there.
And everywhere.
Possibly a tequila shot.
Or 50.

The boys discovered this little dive bar, Geckos.  It was owned by Chenney ("like Dick Chenney!") and he loved us.
Or maybe he just loved Americans because they have a penchant for spending way too much money on alcohol, but never the less, he treated us like royalty.
The jukebox played American hits, the pool sticks were called "tacos" and we had a number of super fun nights at Geckos.
(apparently our pictures will be on their website in the next month)

We spent the following day out on a boat.
We went snorkeling, we SUPed.
John Munn, aka Howard Juanston, caught a fish.
It was all very fun and exciting.

Saturday was Girl's Day.
We sent the boys out to fish and surf.
We had in-room massages, lounged by the pool.  Got buzzed at lunch.  Got propositioned with boyfriends from the locals and went out for a really fun and rowdy group dinner.
And then we ended up back at Geckos.
Go figure.

abbi and her sangria

yum!

we never made it to "heaven" but I felt the need to include this picture because it cracked me up
We took salsa lessons.
The boys are not good dancers.
It was too dark to take pictures.
You'll have to use your imaginations.

We visited Salsalyito (sp?) and lounged on the beach.
It was a rough trip.

Ahh, Mexico.
You were just what I needed to recharge the 'ole batteries.
Thanks Erwins and Munns for an amazing trip!
