Colorado Float

Holy Hotness Batman!

We spent three nights floating the Colorado River near Moab,UT.

The details:

Days were 107 degrees and our nights were a balmy mid-70's.
We were with some of our favorite people: the Erwins, the Lokeys and Shane, Lesley & Sawyer.

There were biting horse flies, old lady hats, an Alter Ego theme night, celebrating Danny's birthday and swimming.
Lots and lots of swimming.

And, I discovered a new talent.

Making Old Lady Hats.

My mom is going to be the most stylish old lady in the rest home someday.

Kidding Mom, kidding...

Speaking of my mom, she was my lovely model.

Rigging the boats!  This is a time consuming effort.  But at least we didn't need to run a shuttle so that saved quite a bit of time.
The boats have to be "just so".   And for some reason, Brett's boat takes the longest to rig.
Every.Single.Time.

While the men-folk rig, the kids play.
In the water
In the mud.
Ah, the joys of childhood.

And we're off!  Saint Jill, in the ducky with Owen and Callie.

the erwins!  love them!

I came up with Alter Ego night as a theme night.
But quite honestly, I have no idea what that even means.
There was quite a bit of philisophical discussion back and forth about the complexity of one's inner workings or some such nonesense.
Jas, we missed you and your colorful commentary on the meaning of life.

One of the things I love most about our group of friends is the give and take.
For instance, after having your children with you day in and day out on this tiny little flotation device, sometimes you want to kill them.
And at that point, you hand them over to another boat and you get a little break.
Today, we got Owen.
And although he was trying to make his lovely mother pull her hair out, he was an absolute delight on our boat.
Seriously.

This was photo shoot time.

give me fierce!

give me crazy!

give me "heck yeah!!!!"

 Give me "adorable"!

Thanks for a great float Friends!
The next one needs to be cooler!!
Temperature wise, not people wise.
