Glenwood Springs & Trapper's Lake

The 4th of July found us on the road to Glenwood Springs, CO to visit our good friends, the Alexanders and the Chards.  This was the first time that we got to meet Brandon & Julie's little girl, Vivian, and she is just beautiful!  Big brother, Gavin, is nuts about trains just like Bennett so they had fun playing with their engines.  And Jason and Nicki's little guy, Finn, is so sweet and smart!

We stayed in Glenwood Springs for the 4th and after the Chards headed home the next day, we headed up to Trappers Lake with the Alexanders for two days of hiking, fishing and enjoying the great outdoors.

There was a quick stop along the way in Buford, CO at the site of Jason & Nicki's wedding so that they could repeat their vows.  We got to be witnesses...again :)

I got to ride the Buford Road up to Trappers Lake with Nic.  I always have a great time with her.  Probably because we think we are absolutely hilarious.  And we are.

We totally lucked out at Trappers Lake.  The cabin we were suppose to stay in had a table and four beds.  And no walls between us.  So after asking for a different cabin that would perhaps fit two families at bit better, we were upgraded to a "duplex".  Each family had our own room with a shared common wall between us in a single cabin.

home sweet home for a few days

The Trappers Lake area is really beautiful and it was so nice to be out in the woods for a while.  We had a pretty sweet set up.  Not only did we have a cabin with electricity (until 9:30p, when they shut it off), there was a really nice common bath house right next to our cabin that had hot showers!!  There was also a lodge that served meals and that came in very handy as it rained each night we were there and we found any excuse to have someone make dinner for us.

On Wednesday morning we decided to go on a hike to Trappers Lake.  It was a three mile round-trip hike and truthfully, that may have been a bit long for little legs.  As Bennett put it, "That was a berry wong time."  But thank goodness for Daddy and good friends.  We kept switching off the carrying of kiddos and we made it up to the lake and back.
Even though it took hours and hours and hours.

After nap time we headed back out for a little fishing.  Jason & Nicki had brought along their canoe and our family rented a little john boat for the day.  Nut loved loved loved fishing.  He cast constantly while Brett rowed.  Rainclouds rolled in before too long and we were forced to head back to shore.   But not before Bennett became completely obsessed with fishing.  Which is a really fun obsession for a little boy to have so we can't complain.

I hope we see you soon Alexanders.  xoxoxo
